VU.CITY Slough: an accurate 3D model of a town on the move

Slough is a small, densely built-up borough, surrounded by green belt and with an urban area constrained by the M4. These constraints, along with tightly drawn boundaries, make designing in the town a real challenge.

But change is underway. Ambitious plans to transform Slough’s town centre will boost its future prosperity and attract new businesses.

The need for housing remains significant, with potential to address it in the area known as “The Square Mile”. There are also opportunities for environmental improvements, with plans to reduce reliance on cars by replacing traffic-heavy roads with walkable, tree-lined streets that link Slough’s centre to its parks and the Grand Union Canal.

Slough’s next chapter

Slough is one of the UK’s most productive towns, home to Slough Trading Estate, Europe’s largest business park in single ownership, and a leading cluster of data centres. Now connected by the Elizabeth line, the town centre is being reshaped. Horlicks Quarter is delivering around 1,300 new homes on the site of the historic Horlicks factory, while the Slough Central scheme is set to replace the Queensmere shopping centre with a new mixed-use town centre. Nearby, North West Quadrant is set to bring around 1,300 more homes alongside new offices.

With VU.CITY Slough, you can see approved and under-construction schemes in context and test how your own plans will sit alongside them.
