VU.CITY Wrapped 2025
4,058 projects. 735 organisations. 600 days in 3D.
2025 has been a big year for VU.CITY.
Slightly mad, if we’re honest, but in the best way possible. So we thought: why not do what everyone else does at this time of year and wrap it all up? Here’s the thing though, when we sat down and looked at the data, we realised this year wasn’t really about us at all.
You created 4,058 new projects. You spent the equivalent of 600 days in our digital cities (yes, we did the maths, that’s almost 52 million seconds, but who’s counting?). You exported over 240,000 views. That’s roughly 700 screenshots a day. Every. Single. Day.
And that’s just the beginning. So here it is: our look back at 2025 - the projects, the people, the 22 million actions you took in the platform, and what it all means for where we’re headed next.
The Numbers
4,058
new projects in 2025
That’s a 12% jump on the previous two years!
51.86 million
seconds in the platform
Or, if you prefer: 600 days of continuous time. That’s 864,000 minutes spent exploring, testing, and presenting in 3D.
240,000+
exports
If 2025 had a favourite button, this was it. Turning your scenes into something you could show your planning committee, your client, or your council was a winner amongst our users.
What you actually used (and what that tells us)
All in, you performed over 22 million actions in the 3D app this year. Bravo.
But there were a handful of tools that really stood out in 2025. Here are the top 5:
Screenshots & Camera Views
240,000+ exports.
The absolute workhorse… That’s roughly 700 exports every single day.
Model Importer
53,000 models.
Whether you're importing from Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or elsewhere, we love seeing your designs being put into context, the way they're meant to be seen.
ZTVs
Almost 32,000 created.
Ah, Zones of Theoretical Visibility. Probably the least catchy name for one of our favourite tools. This lets you decide where it’s appropriate to see your building. Can you see it from the park? The high street? Your favourite beer garden? Now you know.
The Hide Tool
Our unsung hero.
Used to clear existing buildings, context, and elements you’re changing, so the story stays focused on what matters.
We became a B Corp
March 2025. A big one for us. We officially became B Corp certified.
It’s a milestone we’ve been working towards. B Corp certification means we’re held accountable, ‘not just for profit', but for how we treat people, communities and the planet. For a company building tools that shape how cities develop, that matters. A lot.
VU.CITY users: A growing community
735 organisations created content in VU.CITY in 2025.
Project spotlight: The Southampton Webmap
This one deserves its own moment.
We worked with Southampton City Council and Konveio to launch a web-based 3D visualisation tool that lets residents and stakeholders explore proposals in context. And we mean properly explore, rather than looking at a static image and missing tonnes of context.
It brought together public engagement and 3D visualisation in a way that made sense to the people. We were delighted that the project was then nominated for the UKPA PropTech award, but more importantly, it showed what’s possible in the realm of citizen engagement when you make information accessible to everyone, not just professionals working on the schemes.
It's set the tone for how we think about public engagement going forward. More of this in 2026, please.

The cities behind the projects

The true power of VU.CITY not only lies in accurate city models.
Our team ensures you get the most possible value out of the platform by offering a 4D view of cities. (The fourth dimension is time, if you were wondering).
We believe to make informed decisions, you need a platform that can truly reflect the future of cities, including what’s actually been approved (not just what’s been built). So while you’re busy creating, our modelling team is busy staying on top.
We focus on the schemes that reshape the skyline: the bigger approvals, the developments that change the context. And if your project needs specific modelling? Just ask. We're here for it.
The support side of things
We ask for feedback. A lot. It’s what drives us. Here’s some of the bits that stuck in our minds:
- “Always reliable quick responses and resolutions”
- “Great help as ever - thanks VU.CITY!”
- “Super quick to respond, thorough in their reply, and dedicated to finding a solution”.
Behind the scenes: a better knowledge base
We completely rewrote our support articles this year. The new guides focus on workflows and are built to help you get things done, quickly. From the support team themselves:
"We've navigated an exceptional amount of change this year in the product, yet we've built something we're genuinely proud of: a stronger, more connected support team."
What 2025 actually taught us
Earlier is better:
The teams who saw the biggest impact brought VU.CITY in early; feasibility stage, initial concepts, the "is this even worth pursuing?" conversations.
Then, when everything's locked in and you need impactful material for the presentation, VU.CITY offers a way to tell engaging, interactive stories.
When it's baked into the process from the start, you catch problems sooner, test ideas faster, and spend less time backtracking.
Accessibility is the key to success
The more we simplify how you see and share complex data, the easier it is for teams to make decisions with confidence. And the easier it is to bring everyone else along.
It became the default, not the backup plan
The biggest wins came from teams who made VU.CITY their starting point, rather than their safety net. Instead of designing in isolation without proper context, they started designing with the full picture from day one. Small shift in approach. Big difference in results.
Our best ideas come from you
You may have heard on the grapevine that we have a brand new VU.CITY experience coming in 2026.The ideas that have been instrumental to this? Most of them started with a customer saying “It’d be really useful if…” We’re listening.
Which brings us to what we’ve been building all year…
What’s coming in 2026
What we’ve been building (while you were building)
Look, we’re not going to pretend 2025 was business as usual for us. We’ve been heads-down on some pretty fundamental changes, and as our Lead Engine Developer Joshua aptly put it in his first catchup of the year, “So, this is the year we build the thing.” That ‘thing’, is a complete rebuild of our platform:
- A major engine upgrade
- Redesigned front end and backend
- Every feature reimagined with data at the heart
- Rebuilding the Hub from scratch
There’s more. A lot more. But importantly, and as I’m sure you’re all wondering, Joshua has since confirmed, “We've built the thing.”

Everything we've learned from working with you over the past few years has gone into it, including:
Faster, smoother performance across the board
More flexible workflows that fit how you work, from feasibility through to engagement and presenting
![]()
Richer data visualisation, including the ability to bring in your own data, and better storytelling in 4D (the 4th is time, you may remember)
![]()
Smarter processes that give you more control and flexibility
The goal is simple: make VU.CITY the place teams come to visualise, understand, and present what’s changing in the city.

With every successful business, standing still is going backwards. This year has been about driving forward at pace. We have a whole new platform built on a completely new foundation that will allow us to deliver a relentless release schedule of much-requested features throughout 2026. We'll finally be the platform we've always wanted our users to have, one that allows many more stakeholders to benefit from our 4D environment.
Thank you to everyone - customers, employees, government, investors - for supporting us on this journey. Here's to 2026 being a year of delivering something special that supports a fairer, more transparent, and trust-filled future."
Ready for what’s next?
We, along with many others, believe that technology is fundamental to streamline how decisions get made, how projects get approved, and how cities evolve.
