VU.CITY Dacorum centres around Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area. Hemel Hempstead lies in the Dacorum district of Hertfordshire, and was developed after the Second World War as a new town, with the original part of Hemel still known as the “Old Town”. The town is known for it’s “Magic Roundabout”, pedestrianised Marlowes shopping centre, and the stunning Jellicoe Watergardens which lie alongside the New Town and the River Gade.
The future vision of Hemel Hempstead is ambitious, with the Hemel Garden Communities programme delivering new homes, and acting as a catalyst for the transformation of Hemel Hempstead; taking forward the New Town’s legacy.
Key sites within the town will see change over the coming years, particularly key regeneration sites close to the Town Centre and Two Waters Area.
Dacorum Borough Council has been using VU.CITY to bring high quality developments to the local area and make smarter planning decisions.
VU.CITY Dacorum allows for stakeholders in the built environment to consider such changes, and design and assess proposals within their context, being sensitive to the town’s varied urban characteristics, born from its evolution and heritage.
