VU.CITY 3D Modelling

The Oval cricket ground, which is known as the Kia Oval due to sponsorship, opened in 1845 and is located in Kennington, South London. It has been the home of Surrey Cricket Club ever since it opened and is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.

About the project

We began the modelling process by capturing the building in LOD3, which includes all roof details as well as the general proportions of the walls, conducted using high resolution aerial photography. Once complete we used high resolution terrestrial photography to model the exterior and some façade details. Due to our client’s time constraints we were able to save time by representing the seats in block format as opposed to styling them individually, which gives the imagery an art deco finish.
